Great influence on his work resided at the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome

The author was one of the most important Slovak graphic designers and illustrators of the late 20th century. He was representative of imaginative realism, which he connects with irony. In addition to painting and devoted himself to free graphics and illustrated books for children and adults. He was painting on wood, and in graphic works, he often used the technique of colour etching and aquatint.

Human loneliness and solitude are frequent themes of his works. It is possible to interpret them on several levels and he always intentionally retains something unanswered which causes mystery of his works. We can find there ironic metaphors, intimate memories and historical allegory as well. His paintings remind us of dreams and this impression of unreality is reinforced by intentionally naive figures. In his expressive visual language, he parodies and mocks the past and current stories and he also refers to the famous iconographic attributes. The author freely uses and layers citations and symbolics of different cultures and historical periods.
