Jana Želibská
author of installations, performances, events, video art, graphics
Jana Želibská (1941) was born in Olomouc. In 1959 - 1966 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (1963 - 1966 at the Department of Free Graphic and Book Illustration under Prof. V. Hložník). At the then Czechoslovak art scene, she established herself at the end of the 1960s when J. Chalupecký opened her exhibition in Prague. Already in her taboo topic, she questioned conventional views on the interpretation of intimacy - eroticism and sex (eg female nudes with mirrors and so on), Želibska deliberately offered the viewer the role of voyeur and deliberately ironized hypocrisy in this sphere.
